Call Her By Her Name: Lenape Sippu, is the second in a series of site-responsive performances by the same name. This iteration was curated into the trade school: detroit + phl festival on Friday, June 24 in Philadelphia, PA.
Call Her By Her Name: Lenape Sippu featured Esther Baker-Tarpaga, Barber, Raquel Monroe, and Courtney Jones will took place at Cherry Street Pier next to Lenape Sippu, one of the Lenape names of the Delaware River. Delaware being a colonial name for the river. This hour-long performance explored themes of water, reciprocity, time, anti-abortion legislation, and gun violence. The live action event integrated dance, live music, durational performance actions, and temporary installations in the large pier space and a procession next to the river. The audience members were encouraged to move through and around the space to engage with all of the art installations and the performers.
